Dual-board certified nurse practitioner

BSN, MSN, AGPCNP-C, PMHNP-BC, RN

Meet your provider

Keenan received his Bachelor of Science degree (BSN) in nursing from the Denver School of Nursing in 2015. He has spent 5 years in the inpatient setting with experience in cardiology, oncology, and renal/step-down as a charge nurse. He completed his Master of Nursing (MSN) with honors as an adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in 2020. He is board-certified in primary care as an NP from the AANP and has 4+ years of experience in the primary care setting. In that time, he discovered a passion for mental health and decided to return to graduate school, where he completed his post-graduate certification from Chamberlain University with honors as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. He obtained a second board certification for psychiatry/mental health nursing through the ANCC and maintains both board certifications.

Outside of the office, his interests include spending time with his pups and his wife, landscape photography, international travel, golf, and Dodgers baseball.

Why focus on mental health?

"We all have had experience with anxiety or depressive feelings, yet not two of us have had the same experience. Some of us carry a traumatic past or struggle with concentration or sleep. I have had my own experiences as a patient and as a provider, and I want to focus my career on helping others identify the root of the issues in a safe and patient-centered environment.

My goal is to identify the source of the mental health symptoms and use evidence-based practice to treat that root. My aim is to avoid medications as much as possible, but if we decide on a medication, I will strive to use the least amount of medications for the shortest duration that is absolutely necessary.

Every patient under my care is unique and is deserving of patient-focused and patient-specific care. I believe mental health is just as important as physical health, and these different pathologies can be connected. My goal is to be part of the healthcare team and work in conjunction with primary care providers and specialists alike to improve patient outcomes."

Philosophy of Practice

"I believe the most important thing a provider should know is what they don't know. A provider can have every textbook memorized, but that does not mean the provider knows the patient better than they know themselves.

Every clinical decision should be made WITH the patient, and not FOR the patient. I believe in applying ethical principles in every clinical decision along with evidence-based practice. I am happy to include supplements or herbal remedies in building a patient-specific treatment. I believe in close communication with providers and patients alike."

Request an Appointment with Keenan

Intake appointments are scheduled for 50–60 minutes. If you don’t need the full time, that’s completely okay! We want you to feel unrushed and supported as you get a sense of whether Keenan is the right fit for you. Having a provider you feel comfortable with is so important.

Follow-up appointments are scheduled for 30–60 minutes, depending on your individual plan of care.

Alex Vogler, Medical Practice Manager

OTR/L, Certified Dementia Practitioner, & Co-Owner

Hi! I’m Alex.

I’m an occupational therapist, the practice manager here at Clementine, and Keenan’s wife (which many of you might already know).

I also work as an Occupational Therapist, primarily with individuals who’ve experienced traumatic events. My long-term goal is to begin offering OT services here at Clementine, expanding our ability to support individuals with a more holistic approach to mental health.

Is this the most professional bio I’ve ever written? Not really. But if we’re asking you to be real and vulnerable with us, it’s only right I show up the same way.

Me, as a human first.

If you’ve ever met me, you’ll probably find out within minutes that I have ADHD. For a long time, it was the part of me I found the most frustrating. But over time, I’ve learned to really love myself, including my ADHD, and it’s been one of my greatest teachers.

I’ve navigated the mental health system myself. I’ve had the provider who didn’t listen. I’ve felt the impact of being given a medication with no other supports or conversations. I know what it’s like to feel dismissed and disempowered.

I’m also fortunate. I’ve had my training as an OT to fall back on. That’s where I learned the skills and strategies that help me function beyond medication. And yes, I still have my “ADHD days.” That’s what I call it when I forget to take my meds… or when my brain is just doing its own thing.

Even with medication, sometimes my mouth works faster than my brain. Other times, it takes me a second to process what’s been said. But that’s real life, and I want you to see that here.

Why I’m Here

Someone once asked me: What qualifies you to run a mental health practice?

Honestly, I wanted to skip the question. Not because I don’t have experience. I’ve been an OT for years, worked in hospitals, nonprofits, rehab settings, and taken on caregiver roles in my personal life. But that’s not really what qualifies me.

I care. Deeply. Probably too much sometimes. Whether you're someone I see once and never again or someone I work with for years; I carry your story with me. If I don’t know the answer, I will research it.

If I’m not the right person for you, I’ll help you find who is. Even if it breaks my heart to let go.

A Little More Personal

I’m originally from North Carolina and moved to Colorado during my clinicals. I planned to move back, but then I met Keenan, and, well… life has a funny way of changing course.

I love gardening (even when the Colorado sun scorches my tomatoes), reading, hiking, and starting DIY projects that don’t always pan out. I’m a proud member of a big, loud Italian family. Which makes living far from home hard sometimes. My sweet tooth is probably my biggest weakness... though that might depend on the day.

What to Expect from Me

I over-communicate. It’s how I work and how I care. Whether it's policies, treatment plans, or why we’re referring you to someone else; I’ll always explain the “why.” Because I believe when you understand the process, you feel more empowered. And that's what I want for every person who walks through our door.

Please, give us feedback. Feedback about your experience with our clinic, our staff (i.e. Keenan), and with me. Clementine exists for you, and you are the only reason we’re here.
